At long last: Karin ♡ Helmut

Wedding Glow

In the summer of 2022, we also experienced how wonderful a “wedding glow” can be. *hop* We spontaneously said YES to each other in a small circle with the most wonderful people around us. Yes to our deep bond and yes to new goals together. It’s totally cheesy for me to say this now (I’ve been to hundreds of weddings in the last 30 years), but it was one of the most beautiful days of my life.

Engagement

The engagement was in Dubrovnik in 2020, we were practically alone on the city walls and it was just perfect! It happened during the first of three holiday weeks that my sweetheart and I spent together on the sailing boat. You can probably imagine what I did for the rest of the weeks. *hihi* Grinning all over my face, showing my engagement ring to everyone and everywhere, spending “every spare minute” planning the wedding. And as always, things turned out differently than planned.

Planning

Two years later, on the journey home from Vienna, where we were able to attend a super nice wedding, we were talking in the car: this is actually exactly how we imagine our wedding. Uncomplicated, under a tree outside, with our favourite people, without a seating plan and without a meticulous agenda. And so we set a date and counted every single day from then on. It’s four weeks away!

We also quickly found the perfect place for it: Silly’s Steinhaus on the wine route. We just had to keep our fingers crossed that the weather would play ball, as a bad weather alternative would only have been possible with a lot of stomach ache. But we were sure it would be perfect! And so it was.

Wedding

The day began with a small civil ceremony in Leibnitz with just the witnesses. And then we went up to the Weinstrasse. There, in a small circle with our nearest and dearest and a surprise guest, who has been a part of it ever since, we had a wonderful ceremony with the marvellous Gabriele Koch, where I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. It was exactly what we had imagined: under some old trees, a sunny day with a constant light breeze, fun and quiet, very personal and with fantastic contributions from our guests. It’s such a lovely feeling when everyone is happy with you and this incredible, positive energy carries you through the day. And it was just as I always predict to my bridal couples: time flies so super fast on this day … So many unforgettable moments! I often closed my eyes with a smile on my face, paused and tried to soak it all in. It was simply a wonderful, carefree summer’s day, full of love and joy.

The best thing about a wedding at such short notice in the high season on a Wednesday (!!!) is that somehow everyone has time. So Max Waltl and his band brightened up the day musically and in the evening Gernot Frais rocked the vines. We were photographed and filmed by a very dear friend Michy Begsteiger and her husband Manu, the floral decorations were by the wonderful Petra Vollmann, who went all out at the last minute, and the fantastic cakes were conjured up for us by Elisabeth Decker. They have all been with us for a long time as colleagues who we have taken to our hearts. And then there’s my mum, who spent weeks weaving the most beautiful macramé artworks for our decorations. We spent our wedding night with Ulli at the Winkelart Hotel, where we had a sensational breakfast with our guests the next day on the terrace with the most beautiful view. Everything was simply wonderful and harmonious! Once again, a big thank you to everyone who was a part of this wedding.

Helmut is my soul mate, we are so deeply connected and in harmony, sometimes almost uncannily so. And even after so many years, we look each other in the eye and smile and are grateful that we have each other. ♡
